Im Zuge des Themas Transformation habe ich es mir zur Aufgabe gemacht, die Nachteile von gewöhnlichen Helmen aufzufassen und ein Produkt zu entwickeln, welches diese Nachteile gezielt eliminiert und somit ein optimales Anwenderkonzept darstellt. Neben der Transportfähigkeit stand ebenfalls die formreduzierte und dezente Gestaltung im Vordergrund. Das Endprodukt soll durch seine Aufblasbarkeit und somit umgesetzte Komprimierbarkeit einen deutlichen Vorteil zu gewöhnlichen Helmen darstellen.
Der Umsetzungsprozess erschloss sich aus einigen Vormodellen zur Formfindung und wurde durch einen Prototypen im Maßstab 1:1 vollendet. Der finale Prototyp wurde aus einer recycleten Isomatte gefertigt, da das Funktionsprinzip adaptiert wurde und somit im Mockup optimal umgesetzt werden konnte. Der Kopfschutz kann über den Kinnriemen und die Regulierung der Luftzufuhr an die Kopfform angepasst und zudem im komprimierten Zustand optimal verstaut werden.
In the course of the subject transformation I focused on improving the existing head protection that brings a lot of disadvantages with it. To develop an optimal user concept my focus was on optimizing the transportability aswell as reducing the often very aggressive appearing of casual head protection. By inflating and deflating the helmet can be transported easily which represents an enormous competitive advantage compared to already existing helmets.
The development process was driven by several mockups and finalized with a final prototype of scale 1:1. The final model was created of a recycled sleeping mat which uses the same function principe and was therefor ideally suited for this project. The protector can be fitted to the individual head shape by adjusting the chin strap and manually regulating the air volume. Furthermore the helmet can be stored almost anywhere when deflated.
