Atopica is an app that is focused on helping people who suffer from atopic dermatitis. It helps them track their symptoms and distract them from scratching.
What is Atopic Dermatitis?
Atopic dermatitis (often referred to as eczema) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease with a complex pathogenesis that involves genetic susceptibility, immunological and epidermal barrier disorders and environmental factors. Every patient develops different triggers that follow a flare-up and itching attacks.
Tracking Symptoms
Atopica helps users to track their daily health status and to understand their tracking history. Therefore they can do a daily log, where they tell the app about their day, their symptoms and they can even add their flare-ups on an interactive bodymap. If the users want to show their tracking history to their doctors, they can take a look on the insights, where the app shows different analytics from the past weeks.
Calendar
A small calendar on the startscreen is connected to a short to-do list that reminds the users f.e. of their daily treatment. Users can also view the full month in the calendar section. There, they can get an overview about their good and bad days but also get a symptom forecast and insights for the current day.
Panic
One of the most important features is the itch attack panic-button. If users feel an itch they can simply tap the button and get a short exercise for which they need to use both of their hands so that they won’t be able to scratch. After a short breathing exercise users have the opportunity to play a minigame which is supposed to distract them from scratching after they calmened down.
