“Inviting environment that will bring students together.
convertible spaces that adapt to your needs”
This is the concept that was chosen for this design.
Upon analyzing spaces created for students, like
student lounges, several problems were found. These
spaces were not comfortable, often they were very rigid,
they didnt promote team work or social scenarios and
were often hard to customize. The project aims to
create a product that is easy to use, works with the
environment to create a landscape, is comfortable and,
most importantly, can work for all the activities a
student lounge is meant for (studying, meetings,
gatherings, etc).
That is the reason why our final product is a set of
various pieces that end up creating a landscape for the
user. The product is made to not limit the user in any
way, and is very customizable. The shapes used are all
very organic and resemble circles, since these don’t
limit the capacity of people that may use the product.
The theme of the course was flatpack, which meant our products must be compact when packaged. This is the reason for our modular design and the measurements we decided on. The two small half rings are able to fit inside the center of the bigger ring. All additional elements like the table, legs and table support, can all be detached and also placed in the middle of the rings. This makes packaging and shipping easier.
