In this class we covered basic programming elements such as variables, loops, conditions and classic algorithms. As well we covered complexity, prioritization and framing which is especially important in a creative and innovative context. To give first semester students space to learn the basic elements of coding, UI-Design is not the focus of this class, however students can customize the UI-Design as a bonus feature.
In this subject we had the opportunity to get tips from a full-time game designer. The task was to code a game based on the classic rock paper scissors. It was up to us whether we wanted to focus more on the logic or more on the design part. I decided to focus on the design part because I just started programming and i really wanted to design my own avatars. The figures represent rock and paper scissors.
My avatars are inspired by Marvel characters and from the Harry Potter magic chess. I also decided to go with a black background because i wanted the focus to be on the designs and the background shouldn’t be distracting. A background music was also selected and should examine a calm atmosphere and invite to play more often.
