Youtube Music is one of the most popular music platforms in the world and yet its appearance hardly stands out from other competitors in the market. In the course “Digital Products” we wanted to change that, so we redesigned and created new features to give Youtube Music its own identity.
Redesign
In order to give Youtube Music a fresh look, we gave our new design a wave as a key visual, which should reflect the dynamics of the music. The wave not only serves as navigation but can also interact with the beat when playing a song. In order not to visually overwhelm the user, we opted for a fairly simple design, which still gets a unique look, for example through the radial arrangement of the song information.
New Features
Since the artists behind the songs often get far too little space, we decided to direct the new focus of the Youtube Music App to the artists. We want to support the artists with new features such as an artist network, in which users can discover connections between different artists, or a comment your song feature, in which the artists can comment on their own songs to tell background stories about the song. A better developed artist page with new functions such as uploading stories to take your fans behind the scenes, a personal recommendation of other artists or even their own favorite songs should give the artists completely new possibilities to interact with their fans. In addition, artists can personalize their artist page by choosing their favorite combination from different color styles and inserting their own scribble.
Future Outlook
In the future we want to give the artists and their fans the opportunity to be even closer. With the help of e-concerts, fans can experience concerts from all over the world and to be there live at any time. With the help of several drones, users have the opportunity to click through different locations in the concert to enjoy their personal favorite view and to be fully involved in the concert. In addition, our users have the opportunity to meet fans from all over the world with the help of personalized artist rooms or to vibe with friends to the same music. Both techniques are supported by VR technology for an even more intense experience.
VR spaces allow users to experience their musician in a whole new way. Through images, colors and videos that run, the fan can get closer to his artist.
