Wie werden Informationen redaktionell entwickelt und aufbereitet? Das übergreifende Thema war »Always in the dark« Portrait einer Generation zwischen Hoffnung, Lethargie, Zukunftsängsten und dem Willen zur Veränderung.
Klimakrise, Energiekrise, Covid Pandemie, Kriege – eine verlorene Jungend? Die Studenten erschaffen mit den Mitteln der Fotografie und der Typografie ein Portrait ihrer Generation. Besondere Gewichtung liegt auf der inhaltlichen und dramaturgischen Konzeption der jeweiligen Fotogeschichte und des daraus resultierenden Editorial Designs.
Das Dachthema »Always in the dark« soll in der Arbeit durchaus als eine Metapher und als ein Sinnbild für das Leben und eine Gesellschaft betrachtet und verstanden werden.
Welche Möglichkeiten eröffnen sich mittels der Fotografie, einer Bildsprache, Text, Typografie und Grafik das Thema darzustellen?
In today’s world of social media everyone could be a target of fake news
With the rise of social media, the prevalence of fake news has increased. It has become very easy to manipulate images and spread false information about others, making anyone vulnerable to becoming a victim of fake news.
The topic of our magazine revolves around ‘social media’ and ‘fake news’ since they are constantly present in the lives of Generation Z.
We chose ‘Unveil’ as the title and ‘Truth On Social Media’ as the subtitle, as it best aligned with our concept and didn’t give away too much. In relation to the title, the cover requires multiple unfolding to symbolise that the reader has to unveil the content first. To enhance the ‘unveiling’ effect, the title runs from the front cover over the right spine onto the back cover.
Concept
Our idea was to create a magazine that initially appeared to be about social media. Different individuals from our generation were interviewed on various topics related to social media. Later, their answers were altered using doodles and handwritten additions to generate false statements.
The original answers were ‘hidden’ through french folding pages within the magazine. At the end of the magazine, it was unveiled that the reader had just been confronted with fake news. So the goal of our magazine was to confuse the reader, highlighting the challenges in distinguishing truth from fake in today’s world.
