Lehrinhalt:
The concept of “form follows function” is a principle in design and architecture that suggests that the form of a building or structure should be primarily determined by its intended function or purpose. This principle emphasises that the design should be practical and efficient, rather than being focused on
aesthetics or ornamentation. It is often associated with the modernist architectural movement of the early 20th
century, which aimed to create simple, functional buildings that were in harmony with their surroundings. The idea behind form follows function is that the design of a building should be based on its intended use, rather than on decorative elements or historical styles.
The shape with which it was decided to work, was born from a small game that tries to join points in a grid, until it achieves an octagon. This shape has a small intersection or cut formed equally from the join in the grid.
Product design project briefing for “CYLA” lamp for gamers based on the principle of “form follows function”. To design a new lamp named “CYLA” that is functional, efficient, and practical in its form and design for the specific use of gamers. The lamp should be based on its intended use and purpose, rather than on aesthetics
or ornamentation. The target audience for this product is gamers. These are individuals who play video games as a hobby or pastime. They can be of any age, gender, or background, but they all share a common interest in playing video games. It’s important to identify the target audience when designing a product, as it allows you to focus on the specific needs and preferences of that group of people. In the case of the “CYLA” lamp, the target audience is gamers, so the design of the lamp should take into consideration the specific lighting needs and preferences of gamers.
Our mood board
For example, gamers often play for long periods of time in dimly lit rooms, so the lamp should have features like adjustable brightness and anti-glare to prevent eye strain. Additionally, the lamp should also be designed to be compatible with the gaming setup and should not take too much space. By understanding the target audience, you can design a product that is tailored to the specific needs and references of that group of people, which is more likely to be successful in the market.
The most complex part of this design is being able to find a way in which all the panels are supported by the same base, without affecting the shape. Several attempts and proposals for anchoring were made. In the end it was decided that the pens would be 2 pieces, the panel as such and the anchors which fit into a small slot in the panels and in the central pyramid, being almost completely invisible.
