Im Kurs Application Design II tauchen die Studierenden in die Welt des User Experience (UX) und Application Designs ein.
Ziel ist es, ein tiefgreifendes Verständnis für den eigenen Designprozess zu entwickeln, die Designentscheidungen sichtbar zu machen und fundiert zu begründen. Der Kurs legt einen besonderen Fokus auf die strategische Gestaltung als Brücke zwischen kreativen Lösungen und gemeinnützigen Aspekten und vermittelt Methoden aus dem Bereich des Human Centered Designs zur Entwicklung benutzerzentrierter Applikationen.
We developed an app to facilitate integration in Germany, with a particular focus on helping refugees connect with their new environment. During our research, we discovered the Welcome Center—a resource for newcomers seeking assistance. While the center offers valuable support, we identified communication inefficiencies and set out to create a solution.
The app is designed to help facilitate connections among people by providing interactive pinboards where users can share and discover information, such as language learning resources, job opportunities, housing tips, and community events. By creating a space for collaboration and support, the app aims to foster a sense of belonging and help users navigate their new environment. Additionally, the platform promotes networking and mentoring, connecting individuals with local communities and essential resources.
Onboarding
To ensure a seamless user experience, we designed a concise onboarding process. Users begin by selecting their preferred language, a crucial step for accessibility. Next, they scan a QR code provided by the Welcome Center, which transfers relevant information directly to the app. This significantly reduces the onboarding time. Once completed, users are directed to the home screen, where they can explore different pinboards and access the chat feature to connect with their integration manager.
Pinboard
Our app features six different pinboards:
Jobs & Housing: Users can view available listings, tap for details, and message the poster for inquiries. A filtering option helps refine searches.
Education & Bureaucracy: Users can post questions, and others can respond with helpful answers.
Social: This pinboard highlights social groups, such as a weekly soccer meetup. Users can find event details and join groups.
Create a pin
Users can either import existing offers from platforms like ImmoScout or create a new pin by answering guided questions. They can also upload photos to enhance their listing.
Social Pinboard
Social pins help users discover local communities and activities. By tapping a pin, users can access detailed event descriptions, meeting times, and locations. If interested, they can join the group to stay informed about updates.
Manager Chat
The chat feature allows users to communicate with their integration manager and other connectors. It facilitates profile sharing and meeting scheduling, making it easier to coordinate availability.
This app aims to simplify the integration process by providing essential resources, fostering community engagement, and enhancing communication between newcomers and support networks.
