17 Global Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030.
The 17 SDGs are: 1. No Poverty, 2. Zero Hunger, 3. Good Health and Well-being, 4. Quality Education, 5. Gender Equality, 6. Clean Water and Sanitation, 7. Affordable and Clean Energy, 8. Decent Work and Economic Growth, 9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, 10. Reducing Inequality, 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities, 12. Responsible Consumption and Production, 13. Climate Action, 14. Life Below Water, 15. Life On Land, 16. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, 17. Partnerships for the Goals.
In this context each student designs a product in one category. Any product can be designed as long it is sustainable and reasonable!
Due to climate change extreme weather events already occur more frequently than before the Industrial age. In the next decade, the numbers of severe floods and storms will rise even further. Severe casualties through weather events can be prevented through fast and efficient warning of the population. Due to the lack of weather data, warning mechanisms in developing countries are often too late or unprecise.
To make weather monitoring easy and accesible monitoring stations have to be simple to set up and maintain.
Meteo one is a modular warning station that contains all of the sensors necessary to provide reliable weather data. In order to make the replacement of sensors easy and fast, the sensor modules can be detached through a bayonet locking mechanism.
The shape is made up from two cylindrical sensor configurations, that are split in the middle. The angled middlesection contains the solarpanel necessary to power the station in remote locations. In additon to the monitoring functions, the station can indicate acute weather threats through a traffic light system on the bottom part.
