“Re-imagine Education” – How digital products can shape the future of learning
It all starts with learning. Learning is the foundation of human progress and a chance to create a better version of ourselves and the world around us.
In this course, we will look deeply into how digital products can shape the future of education and make learning accessible and rewarding to enable access to a better life. Digital products are intangible items delivered electronically, such as music, software and ebooks – essentially, anything that can be used in a digital medium.
Process
During this course students will become familiar with the 4 phase design process model called: understand it, think it, build it and ship it and apply it throughout the semester. The study aims to imitate software development standards by inventing a new digital product by exploring established and emerging platforms. Students will go through four phases: discover, explore, develop and deliver.
In the understanding phase, students will gain a sufficient understanding of the topic and learn from the history, present and future trends in the subject field. The first phase will help them determine the problem they should solve and agree on what success looks like.
During the think it phase, the students will experience and learn new activities to test and validate assumptions to find a solution to the problem.
In the build it stage, they find ways to partner with their selected teams and create a realistic concept that’s desirable, viable, and feasible.
In the last phase of the process, the students should ship their recommended solution and present the approach in a compelling narrative through a presentation and video.
Revolutionizing the way travelers learn languages, by offering a practical and efficient approach
Introducing a unique language learning tool tailored specifically for travelers exploring Germany. Our mission is to empower individuals to truly engage with the German culture and forge deep connections through language immersion.
Are you tired of the monotonous and overwhelming process of traditional language learning as you prepare for your journey to Germany? Do you find yourself trapped in a cycle of tedious textbooks, repetitive exercises, and uninspiring language apps? Well, we have the perfect solution to help break free from this exhausting routine and make language learning an enjoyable and meaningful experience.
The goal of th HeyDu app is not just to learn the basics of the German language but also immerse the user into the culture and traditions. With this in mind, we have developed a unique approach that goes beyond traditional language learning methods.
The app design and features have been developed throughout 4 design stages, understand it, think it, build it and ship it.
This has allowed the respected team to work with a very clear structure in the aim to reach a satisfying result which meets the mission and vision for the HeyDu App.
The background of each team member (Marycurz/Costa Rica, Roqaya/ England, Vivienne/ Germany) has played a huge role in the decision making of choosing language learning as a topic for this project. Ultimately, we settled on a language app as our choice because it offered the perfect solution for beginners and having two Erasmus students on board would mean working with very closely experienced users of various language learning apps and being able to identify the deficits that needed to be addressed.
The visual identity of the app was designed to embody a timeless and minimalist aesthetic. Aiming to create a clean and simple look that would captivate users while maintaining a sense of clarity and elegance. By adopting this approach, we ensured that the app’s functions and immersive features take center stage, free from the distractions of cluttered visuals commonly found in other apps.
HeyDu offers a 360-degree immersive experience, travel memory capturing, immersive exploration, competitive play, and a dictionary. Explore, learn, and connect with others through this transformative language learning tool.
The app’s logo blends English and German elements, representing the diverse team and commitment to immersive learning. The slogan tells a compelling story, showcasing the app’s focus on experiential and interactive language learning.
