“Re-imagine Education” – How digital products can shape the future of learning
It all starts with learning. Learning is the foundation of human progress and a chance to create a better version of ourselves and the world around us.
In this course, we will look deeply into how digital products can shape the future of education and make learning accessible and rewarding to enable access to a better life. Digital products are intangible items delivered electronically, such as music, software and ebooks – essentially, anything that can be used in a digital medium.
Process
During this course students will become familiar with the 4 phase design process model called: understand it, think it, build it and ship it and apply it throughout the semester. The study aims to imitate software development standards by inventing a new digital product by exploring established and emerging platforms. Students will go through four phases: discover, explore, develop and deliver.
In the understanding phase, students will gain a sufficient understanding of the topic and learn from the history, present and future trends in the subject field. The first phase will help them determine the problem they should solve and agree on what success looks like.
During the think it phase, the students will experience and learn new activities to test and validate assumptions to find a solution to the problem.
In the build it stage, they find ways to partner with their selected teams and create a realistic concept that’s desirable, viable, and feasible.
In the last phase of the process, the students should ship their recommended solution and present the approach in a compelling narrative through a presentation and video.

We believe that this is a relatively unknown limitation to the quality of life of others. Talking, speaking, pronouncing - it is a prerequisite for effective communication.
As communication designers, we wanted to revolutionise the speech therapy landscape by providing an accessible, engaging and user-centred solution for people in need.
Our final solution, a speech therapy app integrated into a smart mirror, is a first-of-its-kind tool that offers a new way to practice speech therapy. It combines user-friendly design, personalised exercises, real-time feedback and progress tracking into a unique experience.
In addition, its gesture-based interaction makes it particularly suitable for users with limited verbal communication skills, increasing its impact and accessibility. However, if people feel uncomfortable or have limited mobility, they can switch to smartphone-based navigation.
In addition, we have not only developed the setup and navigation part for a smartphone, but have also integrated the entire app into it. So users can check their current stats on the go, share what they learn with their therapists in class and train whenever they want. It’s a combination of the two: A safe learning space at home and flexible training.
The impact of our product goes beyond traditional speech therapy methods. It enables users to engage in self-paced, immersive and interactive therapy sessions at their convenience. By bridging the gap between technology and therapy, we aim to democratise access to speech therapy resources and improve users’ lives by enhancing their communication skills. The positive impact on users’ confidence, social interactions and overall quality of life is profound.
