The immensity of architecture is, after all, a collection of small pieces made up of lines and boundaries. These pieces have an independent sculptural identity, and sometimes they feel like product detail photographs, detached from the architecture. But the essence of lines and boundaries is found in both architecture and products. This project is a journey from architecture to a product perspective. I want to explore how the fundamental elements of line and boundary affect our visual experience.
Instead of looking at architecture as a holistic structure, I crop with intention, imagining and reinterpreting it in detail, like a specific part of a product. I focused on the edges of the architecture, mainly vaulted ceilings, and the points where straight lines and curves meet. In other words, I follow the way of thinking that breaks down architecture into smaller contexts rather than seeing it as a single entity.
I wanted to blow up the details of the architecture so that people could recognize the lines and boundaries as independent sculptural elements instead of looking at the architecture as a whole structure. The process of transforming the seams, lines, silhouettes, and other elements I found into a product is a way of thinking that blurs the lines between architecture and product, and this project is a collection of small pieces of architecture through this lens.
