kuro
This audiovisual project explores in depth the auditive, structural and atmospheric complexity of the song “Kuro” by Argentinian musician Gustavo Cerati.
“Kuro” is the second song on Gustavo Cerati’s album “+ Bien”, which had been composed for the eponymous film by director Eduardo Capilla. It’s a movie about a college-friend-summer-adventure.
The overall feel of the music is natural while each component in this electronic music piece is artificial. This contrast between manmade and natural is translated into the structure of this visualisation:
a grid of equally sized circles is laid on top of video-footage of untouched bodys of water or fluid movements, which were found in the surrounding nature.
Six different auditive elements were found and put into the groups “stage”, “character” and “effect” to define their purpose and positioning within the video. Distinct visuals were chosen for every element (cloudy voices, micey voices, drop of water, distortion, whistle and beat).
